how many beans do I need?
Your Aquabag arrives as a cover and liner. The fill you buy locally, because posting polystyrene across the country costs more than the beans are worth.
The Aqua Chair and Aqua Pod are discontinued, but plenty of you still have them. The numbers are here so you can keep yours going.
Sits lower and moulds around you. What most people picture when they think bean bag, and the one to pick for lounging.
Holds its shape and sits higher off the ground. Better if you want to sit up rather than lie back, or it's getting heavy use.
Start at the lower number if you are unsure. Polystyrene beads compress over the first few months, which is normal rather than a fault, so you can always add another bag later. Taking beans back out is a much worse afternoon.
the usual questions.
What sort of beans do I actually buy?
Virgin polystyrene beads, sold as bean bag filling or bean bag refill. Target, Kmart and Big W all stock 100L bags. Avoid recycled or shredded foam fill, which compresses far faster and goes lumpy.
Why don't you just include the beans?
Bean fill is enormous and almost weightless, so freight on it costs more than the beans themselves are worth. You will pay less buying locally, and you can top it up whenever it settles.
How do I get them in without covering the room?
Fill the inner liner, not the cover. Cut a small corner off the bean bag, feed it straight into the liner opening, and do it outside or in a bath. Static makes the beads cling to everything, so slower is faster here.
It has gone flat. Do I need a whole new bag?
No. Polystyrene beads compress with use, which is normal. One extra 100L bag usually brings it back. The cover and liner will long outlast the fill.
Can I move fill between bags?
You can, but expect to lose some to static and spillage. If you are filling a second bag properly, buy fresh.
